The letter

To My Beautiful Friends in Grief… ❤️‍🩹

As September begins, my heart finds its way back to you.

Last year, during those first ten days of September, I had the most humbling honor of spending time with some of the most beautiful souls I have ever encountered. We came together carrying names, memories, photographs, stories, tears, and a love that death could never take away.

Parents mourned children.

Sisters mourned brothers.

Brothers mourned sisters.

And each of us carried a different story, but somehow, our hearts recognized one another.

We didn't have to explain the ache.

We simply held onto each other.

When one heart became too heavy, another helped carry it. When words failed, there were tears. When tears ran dry, there was a quiet presence that said, “I'm still here. You don't have to walk through this alone.”

I won't be able to be there with you this year, and that hurts my heart more than I can put into words. 💔

But please know this…

Distance has not moved me from you.

My heart still rests in that same sacred womb of grief where our hearts met last September.

I remember you.

I remember your loved ones.

I remember the stories.

I remember the laughter that somehow found its way through the tears.

I remember the strength we found in simply being together.

And during these first ten days of September, I will be holding you close in my heart.

For every mother missing her child…

For every father missing his child…

For every sister missing her brother…

For every brother missing his sister…

For every family carrying an empty chair and a forever ache…

You are not forgotten.

Your loved ones are not forgotten.

And neither are you.

May we continue to hold onto one another, even from miles away.

Because grief may have introduced us…

but love is what keeps us connected. ❤️‍🩹

Until we meet again, please know that somewhere, someone is remembering with you, crying with you, praying with you, and loving you from afar.

I am.

With all my love,

Hope 🫂❤️‍🩹

The lyrics

Verse 1

In September my heart wanders back

To ten days that changed everything

We came with names and photographs

And love that death could never take away

Parents for children, sisters for brothers

Different stories, same broken ache

We didn't need to explain it, love

Our hearts already knew the way

Chorus

Oh, I may not be there beside you

But distance hasn't moved me at all

My heart still rests where yours first met mine

In that sacred womb where we learned to fall

And be held

For every empty chair, for every forever name

You are not forgotten, neither are they

Grief may have introduced us, my beautiful friends

But love is what keeps us connected

Verse 2

I remember the tears when words failed

And the laughter that found us through the rain

When one heart grew too heavy to carry

Another one helped carry the pain

I remember the quiet that told me

I'm still here, you don't walk alone

I remember your loved ones, I remember their stories

I remember, you're still known

Chorus soft and tender

Though I can't be there this year

It hurts more than words can say

But in these first ten days of September

I'll be holding you close, every single day

For every mother, every father

For every sister, every brother

You are not forgotten

Your loved ones are not forgotten

And neither are you

Bridge stripped piano, whisper vocal

So let us hold on from miles away

Let love be the thread that still remains

Somewhere someone is remembering

Crying with you, praying with you

Loving you from afar...

Final Chorus warm strings swell, hopeful

I am

I am remembering with you

I am crying with you, praying with you

Loving you from afar

Grief brought us together, but love

Oh love is what keeps us

Love is what keeps us connected

Outro gentle fade

Until we meet again

With all my love,

Hope
